What does Continuation mean?

Continuation measures the proportion of students who continue with their studies after completing their first year. 

How is it calculated? 

It’s calculated using data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

The number of first-year students who continue to the next year, leave with a qualification or transfer to another university is divided by the total number of first-year students. 

Who comes out on top for Continuation in the UK for 2024?

This table is new for 2024 with the University of Cambridge taking poll position. London School of Economics, Oxford, Bath and St Andrews bag a place in the coveted top five. 

Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, UCL and Lancaster University also do well making up the top 10 in this category.
