Who comes out on top for Psychology courses in the UK? 

There’s no change at the top with Cambridge holding onto its number one spot in 2024 and Oxford remaining second.

London School of Economics, Loughborough University and University of Glasgow are all new to the top ten. University of St Andrews moves up two places to number four and Cardiff also moves up from tenth to ninth this year.

Studying Psychology 

Psychology is the study of the mind that tries to understand how people and groups think and behave. 

Some undergraduate degrees can include clinical training or be coupled with other relevant subjects, for example:

  • Business & Psychology BSc 
  • Cognitive Science BSc 
  • Psychology BSc 
  • Psychology with Sport & Exercise Science BA 

Psychology degrees are assessed in several ways including casework, presentations, research reports, and a final year dissertation.

Careers in Psychology 

If you want to practice psychology professionally you could become a clinical or chartered psychologist, with postgraduate training and certification or through a graduate scheme. 

However, a Psychology degree will give you many transferable skills that employers look out for, like data analysis, critical thinking, and relationship building. 

Psychology graduates can go on to work in several fields from health and social care or education, to marketing or data analytics.
