There’s a lot more to this region than Yorkshire tea and Yorkshire pudding. The largest county in the UK, it also claims to have the highest number of Michelin star restaurants outside of London. If fancy food is not your thing, the Yorkshire Dales and Moors offer miles of unspoilt countryside and there’s plenty of things to see and do in the many historic towns and cities.

Leeds is a vibrant multicultural city and a real student hub, known for its many shopping arcades, great nightlife, and live music scene. Close by is the smaller city of Bradford, equally diverse, Bradford recently won its bid to become a City of Culture for 2025. A couple of interesting villages close by include Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters and Saltaire, and a UNESCO world heritage site with a David Hockney connection.
York offers all the things you’d expect in a modern city but with an olde-worlde setting. Think cobbled streets, crooked timber buildings, and a Roman city wall built to keep out the Vikings.
Lastly Sheffield needs a mention, a friendly affordable place to live, this industrial city is known for its great independent cafes, shopping, football and lively arts scene.
