Who comes out on top in South East England? 

The University of Oxford stays in the top spot for the South East ranking. Surrey moves up one place to take second and Southampton slides one to third. New into the top ten for 2024 is the University of Brighton and it’s also good news for Portsmouth, moving two to seventh and Oxford Brooks up one to sixth. Sussex slips three to ninth and the rest of the table stays the same.

Studying in South East England  

If you fancy being within easy reach of London without living in it, this could be the place for you. Well connected to just about anywhere, it also claims to be the region that sees the most sunshine. As there’s a mix of beautiful coast, countryside, and quaint towns to explore you can be a fair-weather student here. The White Cliffs of Dover, Brighton Pavilion and Canterbury Cathedral are just some of its claims to fame.

University cities and towns in South East England  

Oxford, home to the many colleges of Oxford University and Oxford Brooke, is known as the city of dreaming spires. Full of amazing architecture, classic literature connections, museums and people cycling from a to b.  

Portsmouth, on the coast, offers a range of watersport opportunities and maritime history along with the obligatory ice cream and fish and chips.  

The University of Surrey can be found in the busy town of Guildford offering good nightlife, shops, theatres and art galleries and if you fancy the University of Kent, you’ll get to know the ancient city of Canterbury.
