Current estimates suggest that a third of UK students become a victim of crime, with about 20% of student robberies occurring in the first six weeks of the academic year. New students with new and expensive equipment can be a goldmine for petty criminals. 

While many universities offer advice on personal safety, taking care of your belongings is your responsibility.
